Home Away From Home

Boarding at Sancta Maria is not simply a logistical arrangement. It is a way of growing up. Our residential community is designed with the understanding that a boarding school must be a genuine home: a place where students feel secure, known, and valued, and where the rhythms of daily life support both academic achievement and personal flourishing.

Across our Aerocity (Hyderabad) and Faridabad campuses, boarding life is shaped by strong pastoral care, thoughtful routines, and a family-oriented culture. Students from India and from across the world live, learn, and grow together, building friendships, resilience, and independence in a setting that is warm, structured, and safe.

Why Board at Sancta Maria?

Boarding is particularly well-suited to families who are relocating internationally, who live at a distance from our campuses, or who want their child to experience the depth of community and character development that only full-time residential life can offer.

Former students consistently describe their boarding years as the experience that most shaped who they became. Learners who joined Sancta Maria directly after moving from Thailand, recall that whilst others had warned them about adjusting to life in India, the school made the transition entirely straightforward. Zack, a boarder for two years, describes an experience that was far from ordinary, and an institution that blends the best of international and Indian school traditions, and that unlocked aspects of himself he had never expected.

Boarding Options

Week Boarding

Week Boarding is designed for students who stay on campus from Monday to Friday, returning home each weekend. This option offers the full benefits of a structured boarding routine, including academic support, shared meals, co-curricular activities, and community life, alongside regular family time. It is a popular choice for families with both the partners working outside home and who live within travelling distance of our campuses.

Full Boarding

Full Boarding is available for students who remain on campus throughout the term. This is the option chosen by most international students and by families who live at significant distances. Full boarders are fully integrated into the residential community and are supported through weekend programmes that include supervised outings, enrichment activities, creative pursuits, and time for rest and personal interests.

For International Families

Full boarding at Sancta Maria is designed for the international student. Airport transfers, holiday travel support, and connections to local guardians where required are all part of the service we extend to families at a distance. We understand that trust is everything when your child is far from home, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Daily Life: Structure, Warmth, and Independence

The boarding day at Sancta Maria is purposefully structured. Academic preparation sessions, mealtimes, physical activity, creative time, and community engagement are balanced to ensure that students are productive, healthy, and genuinely happy. Houseparents and residential staff are available around the clock, providing the pastoral continuity that boarders need.

Routines include:

  • Morning assembly and organised breakfast with the boarding community
  • Full school day with access to all academic and co-curricular programmes
  • Supervised study and homework periods in the early evening
  • Shared dinner and community time
  • Structured free time for personal interests, social connection, and rest
  • Lights-out routines calibrated by age group to ensure adequate sleep

Weekends

Weekends for term boarders are designed to balance rest, recreation, and enrichment. Supervised outings, cultural experiences, creative workshops, sport, and fitness activities provide variety and stimulation. Students also have time to relax, pursue personal interests, and maintain contact with family.
This balance is important: the boarding weekend is not simply downtime, but a continuation of the holistic development that defines the Sancta Maria experience.

Pastoral Care and Safeguarding

Every boarder at Sancta Maria is known by name, character, and story. Our pastoral team is trained in child protection, mental health first aid, and cross-cultural communication. Houseparents build genuine relationships with their students, relationships that provide the secure base from which young people take risks, develop confidence, and grow into themselves.

Our safeguarding policies are aligned with international best practices and are reviewed regularly. We operate a clear framework for student wellbeing that includes regular one-to-one check-ins, peer mentoring structures, and an accessible counselling provision.

A Diverse Boarding Community

The Sancta Maria boarding community reflects the international character of the school. Students from India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond live alongside one another, sharing meals, ideas, and daily life in a way that develops the cross-cultural fluency and empathy that no classroom alone can teach.

For South East Asian families in particular, this environment provides something genuinely rare: your child will be immersed in a rigorous international academic programme, surrounded by peers from across the world, in a country whose intellectual and cultural depth is extraordinary, and all at a cost that is a fraction of equivalent boarding provision in Singapore, the UK, or Australia.
